Laser Hymenoplasty Procedure The hymen is a tissue that covers the vaginal opening partially, or completely in some women. In some situations, such as sexual intercourse or sexual assault, this tissue may be ruptured and some women may want to have it restored in order to feel better or avoid pressure. The parts of the hymen have blood vessels and nerves, this is why a rupture in the hymen may sometimes lead to bleeding and pain. This is when the laser hymenoplasty enters the picture. With that being said, some women may be born without a hymen, or with a very flexible one. In such a situation, there will be less pain during intercourse and probably no bleeding at all. The size, shape, thickness, and flexibility of this opening vary significantly among women.
